- Keep it simple - Going overboard on decorations is a sure way to tire you out before the big day! Choose a theme like "red & gold" or "snowmen" and limit your decorations to the ones that fit.
- Get your kids involved - Make them feel special with jobs like arranging the cheese platter, setting the table and filling water glasses. It will keep them out of trouble and save you tons of time.
- Have extra finger foods handy - Buy a couple extra bags of cubed cheese, cheese cracker cuts and precut veggies. They're perfect for feeding last minute guests.
- Potluck party - Don't try to do all the cooking yourself. Ask your guests to contribute something special to the meal. They'll feel needed and you'll get a break!
- Cut corners - Cook the dishes you enjoy making like your favorite cheese fondue and Grandma's apple pie with Cheddar crust and buy the rest from your local caterer or grocery store.
- Cook today to enjoy the party tomorrow - Instead of trying to defrost and cook a 12 lb. turkey while you're welcoming guests, cook the turkey the day before. It will taste just as good the day after - and no one will know the difference.
- Skip the trip to the mall - Don't get frazzled trying to find gifts (and parking) at an overcrowded mall. Give gourmet gifts of cheese and wine! Perfect pairs are robust Cheddar with crisp Riesling and nutty Swiss with fruity Pinot Noir.
